STAFFORD, TEXAS – April 10, 2011 – Microwave Networks Incorporated (MNI), a leading global supplier of next generation microwave communication systems, has been selected as a partner by South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA) to provide an advanced communication infrastructure in support of its ongoing Smart Grid initiative.

Over the next several years, SMEPA will deploy Proteus microwave radios throughout the state of Mississippi in order to expand its existing infrastructure to reach outlying service areas. By leveraging MNI’s native Gigabit Ethernet transmission products with MPLS technology, SMEPA is able to maintain existing TDM devices while moving to a newer IP-centric topology. The Proteus radios are highly advanced hybrid radios capable of transmitting any combination of DS1, DS3, and Gigabit Ethernet in its native format. Its reconfigurable software design and complete hardware redundancy makes it ideal for use in networks where both flexibility and reliability are required.

In addition to microwave radios, SMEPA is taking advantage of MNI’s role as industry leader in turnkey solutions to provide factory integration, training, installation, supervision, and support services. MNI’s dedicated integration area is being used to assemble, stage, wire, configure, and test the complete system including wireless bridges, point-to-multipoint radios, VoIP devices, stratum-1 timing sources, physical media converters, station alarm RTUs, and MPLS routers.

“We are proud to be selected again and we support SMEPA’s always challenging demands of building and maintaining one of the industry’s top communication systems. We are also excited to provide SMEAPA with MNI’s full integration services and support to ensure successful deployment and complete satisfaction.” says Aviad Gefen, MNI’s President and CEO. “More and more network providers have recognized the value and confidence gained by using a single company like MNI with its unique expertise to successfully integrate their complete system prior to deployment in the field.” Gefen concluded by saying, “We look forward to our continued relationship with SMEPA and are happy that they’ve chosen MNI as a trusted partner.”

STAFFORD, TEXAS – February 21, 2011 – Microwave Networks Incorporated (MNI), a leading global supplier of next generation microwave communication systems today announced the beginning of an advanced urban communications infrastructure project in Zambia for Zesco, the nation’s largest power utility. This project highlights MNI’s continued activity across the globe including the growing African market.

“We are extremely happy to once again choose Microwave Networks as our partner,” said Zesco Engineering Manager Monica Milupi. “We are currently relying on MNI radios that have been operating trouble-free for the last 15 years. Their reputation for quality products, top tier deployment services, and strong support is well deserved; we know Zesco will continue to receive that same high level of commitment from MNI throughout our entire project.”

MNI is using hot-standby protected 8 GHz Proteus M-Series microwave radios to provide Ethernet and E1 service in downtown Ndola. The new microwave infrastructure will serve to connect Zesco’s offices, substations, and equipment locations with reliable, advanced voice and data services. Proteus M-Series is a sophisticated hybrid radio that can transport any combination of E1 and Ethernet in their native formats. Its inherent software design allows simple and rapid reallocation of payload as traffic utilization changes, making it ideal for growing networks. In addition to sending personnel in-country for installation supervision, MNI is also providing path design, site and path surveys, factory testing, and training services. The network is being implemented in Zambia in conjunction with international system integrator Balton CP.

Aviad Gefen, Microwave Network’s President and CEO remarked, “Zesco’s repeated selection of Microwave Networks is another example of MNI’s long-term commitment to our customers in Africa. The M-Series is the perfect choice for providers like Zesco and enables rapid and seamless expansion of their network through software control and flexible allocation of their E1 and Ethernet traffic.” Mr. Gefen also went on to say, “We are pleased to be recognized as a quality, next-generation microwave provider as well as for our commitment to unmatched responsiveness and best-in-class field support.”
